Abstract

In India, Haiderabad State or the South Indian regions, under Muslim rule, have shown their history and culture in a specific and distinct manner. To see its importance and specifications, historians have paid due attention and wrote a number of historical works and dissertations on the history and culture of Haiderabad State in different languages and in different times. Among such works, a rare and typical history "Tareekh-e Dakkan" (تاریخِ دکن) was written and published by a renowned scholar and a great religious thinker of the time: Saiyyad Abul A'la Maodudi. But this book was unknown to not only his admirers, even to the research scholars interested in their studies of history and culture of the region.
This article, written by Moinuddin Aqeel, is an effort to introduce this valueable work of the author to the readers and scholars of the history and culture of Haiderabad State, and to those admirers of Maodudi who keep his every writing as a direct and basic source for the studies of his life and works..
